ISEH Clinical Director appointed Chief Medical Advisor for NFL International Series

The NFL International Series in London has been going from strength to strength over last few years and the number of teams coming over and the number of games increasing.

For 2015 six of American Football’s biggest teams are back in the UK for the European leg of the 2015 International Series this autumn.  With three league games now being played regularly on British soil, the NFL is gaining popularity across the world for its furious pace, glossy glamour and all-American charm.

The National Football League (NFL) is the USA’s biggest football league and it hit our shores back in 2007, bringing its brand of infectious high-energy sporting muscle to London’s Wembley Stadium.  It’s grown from strength to strength, raising the sport’s profile on this side of the Atlantic and securing a major UK fan base.

As a result of this expansion, the NFL have evolved their requirements in terms of service provision including the roles and responsibilities of the Chief Medical Advisor (CMA) and their team. The new CMA role will be expanded and will strengthen and develop the links between the NFL and the ISEH.  We are delighted to announce that Professor Fares Haddad has been appointed as the new CMA.

As in previous years HCA will continue to be supplying medical support to the teams and NFL Family while they are in the UK, including the Urgent Care Centre at The Princess Grace Hospital, coverage of all practice sessions, GP services and full pitch side consultant led medical care at Wembley Stadium on game days.

The dates of the three games are:

Sunday 4 October – Miami Dolphins v New York Jets

Sunday 25 October – Jacksonville Jaguars v Buffalo Bills

Sunday 1 November – Detroit Lions v Kansas City Chiefs

The ISEH will also be hosting a NFL Masterclass 2015: The Upper Limb in Contact Sports on the 1 October 2015
