The ISEH

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health’s (ISEH) vision is to:
‘Help people achieve their full potential through leading active & sporting lifestyles.’

The ISEH achieves this through:

‘Providing excellence in the treatment, research and education of sports injuries & illnesses to support elite sport and improve the physical activity of the nation.’

The ISEH is a major legacy project of the 2012 London Olympic Games. A £10 million investment by the Department of Health has resulted in a dedicated state-of-the-art facility in the centre of London. The ISEH, which opened in June 2013, aims to deliver world-class research, teaching, training and clinical expertise in sport and exercise medicine.

The ISEH provides:

  • High quality sport & exercise medicine clinical treatment and an excellent patient experience for people of all sporting abilities, with particular expertise in elite athletes.
  • Cutting-edge research to improve the treatment & prevention of sports injuries & improve the nation’s health & physical activity.
  • Delivers high quality education for sport & exercise medicine students & healthcare professionals to enhance their care of people at all levels of sporting ability.

The ISEH provides excellence in elite sports performance and sports injury prevention and management whilst bridging the gap between elite sport, amateur sports and exercise prescription, for the improvement of the healthcare of the population.

The ISEH is a partnership between UCLH (University College London Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust) HCA Healthcare UK, UCL, UK Sports Institute and the British Olympic Association.
