PoTS Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) is a chronic disorder characterised by symptoms of orthostatic intolerance and an excessive increase in heart rate on standing without orthostatic hypotension.

PoTS is often associated with other conditions, including migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, and autoimmune diseases.

Diagnosis requires a heart rate increase of ≥30 beats/minute in adults (≥40 beats/minute in adolescents aged 12–19 years) within 10 minutes of standing or head-up tilt.

At our Central London facility, we are delighted to offer a dedicated Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) service for athletes, including adolescents. This specialist service is designed to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of PoTS.

We are privileged to have Dr Nicholas Gall, a highly respected Consultant Cardiologist with extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of POTS, syncope, and complex cardiovascular conditions, consulting within our service. His specialist knowledge and experience enable patients to benefit from expert evaluation and evidence-based care tailored to their individual needs.
