Sam Oussedik is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with an NHS practice at University College Hospital London. He sees private patients at the Princess Grace Hospital, the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health and the Lister Hospital in Chelsea. He specialises in knee surgery for both sports injuries and degenerative conditions, as well as all forms of trauma surgery.
Sam studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s medical college prior to undertaking basic surgical training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Having become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003 he undertook a period of research at University College Hospital investigating the role of stem cells in integrating artificial hips into surrounding bone. During this period he also authored numerous journal articles and co-wrote a book on trauma care. In 2006 he was appointed to the North West Thames training rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedics leading to success at the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeon’s examinations in 2010.
Having spent a large proportion of his post-graduate training in the field of knee surgery he decided to further this by spending a year at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney as Knee Fellow. During this time he was able to gain highly specialised experience in all aspects of knee and lower limb surgery, specifically focusing on the latest techniques for joint replacements and knee reconstruction following sports injuries.
