Student Profiles / Mr Charles Ballet
Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health MSc
Charles Ballet is a Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who was born in Paris, before arriving in London to pursue higher education. He is currently gaining further experience with a Rugby Union club and in Football at a sporting academy.
Charles said “I currently work as the senior Physiotherapist with Belsize Park RFC, which is based in London’s Regents Park. I also work seasonally with the Sporting Duet Academy (of South Kensington), which runs football camps for teenagers.
I hugely enjoy the multi-sport experience, which is why I have also become involved in various events, including the London Duathlon.
I have an intense interest in sports medicine, elite sports performance and health promotion, hence I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine at UCL, which is in collaboration with the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health (ISEH).
I am also carrying out a research project that focusses on elite and amateur sportspeople’s health concerns during and after professional careers in Rugby. I am excited about this research because I believe that more can be done to help players (at any level in their sport) to enjoy the sport, while at the same time ensuring their continued health and welfare.
My experience in the field of sports & exercise medicine so far has been extremely positive and enriching, and I feel privileged to be studying for a Masters Degree at UCL. My personal tutor, lecturers and other staff thus far been very approachable and supportive and I’m excited about future opportunities that it could lead to”.
