Professional Biography

Sujith Konan is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedics surgeon at University College London Hospital where he specialises in procedures related to the hip and knee joint and general trauma. His practice also involves a high volume of complex surgeries as well as revision procedures.

He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL, a role that combines research, education and leadership roles. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and textbooks and presents nationally and internationally on current research and future innovations.

Following his basic surgical training and membership of the Royal college of Surgeons of England in 2006, Mr Konan undertook a two-year post-graduate research degree [MD (res)] at University College London. His higher specialist training in Orthopaedics was on the North Western and Middlesex/University College Hospital rotations, achieving a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery FRCS(Tr&Orth) in 2013.

Mr Konan enhanced his skills and training further by undertaking prestigious fellowships in North America and Europe; including a year (2014) in Vancouver and visiting fellowships (2015) to Paris, Dresden, Bern, Munich & Zurich (2015). He has gained several prizes, scholarships and awards during his training and been awarded travelling fellowships by British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society, BJJ-EFORT society (Mark Patterson travelling fellowship) and European Hip Society.

Privately Mr Konan consults at the Princess Grace Hospital and the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health. He aims to combine his clinical and research skills to offer unique solutions to individual problems. This includes hip and knee joint replacements; resurfacing; partial replacements; arthroscopy; ACL reconstructions; sport related injuries; and innovative techniques such as minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
