Professional Biography

Dr Charlie Pedlar is a practicing sport scientist and researcher with extensive experience working in high performance systems.

He is motivated to optimise the health and performance of male and female athletes, and to reduce barriers to sport and exercise participation for health in the wider population.

Charlie has previously held positions at the British Olympic Association and the English Institute of Sport and is currently the Chief Science and Research Officer at Orreco, an Associate Professor at St Mary’s University Twickenham and an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute for Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) at UCL.

Charlie recently completed a 2 year professional sabbatical at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and continues to work with elite athletes including Olympic sports, the EPL, NBA and the NFL. He is also the co-organiser of Marathon Medicine, the Virgin London Marathon’s conference on the science and medicine of distance running.

Charlie has recently won research funding from the organisations such as parkrun, The Royal Ballet Company, Southampton FC, STRAVA, the US and UK military.
