Over 200 people gathered in the summer sunshine on Sunday 28 June to take part in the third annual ISEH run in Regents Park in London.

New for 2015 was an additional event, the ISEH 10K which attached a great deal of interest.

The day started with Matt ‘the Piller’ Miller, fitness celebrity and friend of the ISEH stretching all parts of the body of all the runners in preparation for the event – although they didn’t take the lead there was even a downward dog thrown into the mix .

The run was started by Professor Fares Haddad, the ISEH’s Clinical Director and the runners were supported around the course by enthusiastic and colourful marshals.

The run was a chipped time licensed event and attracted both competitive runners and people who wanted to use the race to test their exercise regimes and become more active.

At the end of the race the runners were greeted with a smiley face, a medal and some lovely refreshments.

There were prizes for the first three finishers (male and female) in the both the 5K and 10K races as well as age group categories winners in the 10K.

Race results and times are below:

Well done to all those who participated and others who supported the race, whether by fundraising or volunteering – a big thanks to you all.

Thank you also to Sybermedica Ltd, the Princess Grace Hospital and Warrens for supporting the event.

"Thank you @TheISEH for a great 10k today. Very friendly marshals I’ll definitely return next year"

ISEH consultant Dr Mike Loosemore, who was chief medical officer for the England Commonwealth Games team last year, is convinced that such events can be a real eye-opener about how easy it is to be a bit more active.

Dr Mike Loosemore said: “All recent research shows that the sedentary lifestyles many of us now lead have a really detrimental effect on your overall health. Moving around, in any way at all, has fantastic health benefits from improving your mood to helping your body deal better with toxins and illness.

So whether you’re able to tear up the 10k or even walk the 5k, by getting out in the open and away from the computer and TV you will start reaping the benefits."
