Assessment of current physical capabilities promotes the design of training programs which use a clear system of analysis, testing, and exercise prescription and provides a monitoring tool from which the effectiveness of subsequent training interventions can be analysed.

FULLY DEDICATED TO MAXIMISING ATHLETIC POTENTIAL

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) offers a comprehensive measurement portfolio with an option to complete tests independently or as a package to ensure each individuals needs are catered for.

Tests available include:

  • Musculoskeletal screening through the quantification of joint function, range of motion and stability
  • Strength profiling to determine muscle strength using an isokinetic dynamometer and explosive strength capacity using force plate diagnostics
  • Movement and power evaluation including a series of jump-landing tests on a force plate to determine performance characteristics and potential inter-limb compensations, whereby individuals ‘off-load’, with a dominance towards a particular limb
  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET) to assess integrative exercise responses involving the pulmonary, cardiovascular, haematopoietic, neuropsychological, and skeletal muscle systems with measurements of respiratory oxygen uptake (VO2), carbon dioxide production (VCO2), and ventilatory measures during a maximal exercise test

Following testing, a comprehensive performance report is provided with identified strengths and weaknesses which can be targeted through training. Further referral can also be made to either an orthopaedic or sport and exercise medicine consultant or physical performance specialist if required.
