The ISEH was one of the lead supporters of Elevate 2016 alongside Public Health England, Sport England and London Sport where Industry leaders, healthcare professionals and performance experts came together for the very first time to focus on their shared goal of tackling physical inactivity.

The event which took place at Olympia, London on the 4 and 5 May brought together a wide range of professionals including academics, allied healthcare professionals, policy makers, charity workers, local authorities and sport scientists. 

Attendees were able to learn more from 138 expert speakers who shared their knowledge and ideas on the strategies to increase participation, physical activity for health and well-being and the future of elite performance. 

Dame Sally Davies presented an opening address to the Physical Activity for Health and Wellbeing audience calling on ‘health professionals, fitness professionals, teachers and sporting role models to come together’ to help promote ‘a healthier, more productive, happier nation. While ISEH consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine Dr Mike Loosemore presented research on the positive association between physical activity and a reduction in a number of health conditions as well as on the role of physical activity for the health and wellbeing of children.   

Commenting on the inaugural event Matt James, ISEH Development Director said "congratulations to Max and the team at Elevate for planning and delivering an excellent couple of thought provoking days. It was great to see so many different parts of this sector coming together under one roof - roll on 2017 as this should happen much more often."
