Amy Jones joined the multi-disciplinary team at the ISEH in January as a Research Technician which has allowed her to get hands on with a wide range of research topics.

From totally occluding the blood flow in cyclist’s legs to assisting in the strength analysis of an elite hurdler, there is a varied research interest on the first floor at ISEH. Amy originally from South Devon went to Birmingham University in 2010 to study Sport and Exercise Sciences leaving in 2013 to take up a post at UCLH before joining the ISEH.

With a background in perioperative Cardiopulmonary Exercise tests, Amy brings extensive knowledge of exercise testing and principles to the various research teams. But it doesn’t stop there Amy is also developing keen research ideas and hopes to have a project under-way in the near future.

Outside of work, Amy is currently training for the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 26 April. Amy will run (hopefully all the way!) the 26.2 miles through the streets of London in support of the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association (PSPA). PSP is a degenerative neurological disorder that currently has no cure- research suggests there are around 4,000 people living with the illness in the UK.

Amy’s fundraising website page can be found via on www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/lisaamymarathon to support in any way you can.
