WHAT IS ARTHROSAMID®?

Arthrosamid® is a new, safe and innovative treatment that is injected into the knee to relieve and treat pain caused by osteoarthritis. It is a single-dose that provides long-acting pain relief without the need for surgery; the outcome is improved functionality of the knee, providing patients with sustained relief by reducing pain, stiffness and improving the quality of life for patients with knee osteoarthritis.

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) are delighted to be able to offer Arthrosamid® within our state-of-the-art facility located on Tottenham Court Road in Central London. Through our partnership with HCA Healthcare, the treatment is performed by a world-renowned Sports, Exercise and Medicine specialist with vast expertise in the treatment of Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and a host of sports injuries and complaints.

HOW DOES ARTHROSAMID® WORK?

Performed as an outpatient procedure, patients will be given a local anaesthetic to numb the knee area before the injection is given. Arthrosamid® is an intra-articular polyacrylamide hydrogel injection (iPAAG) that integrates with the synovial membrane and thickens the synovial fluid surrounding the knee joint and unlike other alternative treatments, improves lubrication to provide cushioning to relieve pain and soreness.

ON THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE:

  1. Before Arthrosamid® is injected, the knee is thoroughly cleaned.
  2. The injection is performed with the help of an ultrasound at our renowned facility on Tottenham Court Road.
  3. The needle is removed and a plaster is placed over the injection site.

FREE PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

Contura has partnered with The ISEH’s physical assessment unit to scientifically collect outcome data on the effectiveness of Arthrosamid on osteoarthritis.

As part of the treatment package, patients are eligible for a FREE physical performance assessment pre-injection, and then again at 3-6 and 12-months post injection.

There is no additional cost to the patient with this unique service included in the overall treatment price.

HOW LONG WILL THE INJECTION LAST?

Arthrosamid® findings reveal that patients have reported a significant reduction in their pain 4 weeks after their injection, and the level of reduction was maintained at the 1 year follow up period.
