Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Mark Phillips is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma surgery, elbow conditions, and complex injury surgery, with a particular focus on performance-related conditions in musicians and with specific expertise in hand and wrist surgery. He provides patient-centred care, tailored to the individual needs of those under his care.
Graduating with his primary medical qualification from Cambridge in 1989, Mr. Phillips underwent basic surgical training and conducted research at the Royal Free Hospital. He then pursued specialised training in Orthopaedics & Trauma through the King’s College Hospital rotation. Following higher surgical training, he undertook two fellowships: one in hand surgery at the Plastic Surgical Department of Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, and another in fracture reconstruction at the University of Pisa, Italy.
With 14 years of experience as an NHS Consultant, including 12 years at King’s College Hospital, Mr. Phillips now exclusively serves private patients. He is passionate about teaching and has instructed individuals at various levels, including the public, allied healthcare professionals, medical students, and fellow consultants. Additionally, he has convened courses focusing on complex fracture management and has been invited to serve as a faculty member at meetings throughout the UK and Europe.
During his time at King’s, Mr Phillips’ primary academic interest cantered on the management of bone defects resulting from high-energy trauma and the utilisation of technologies such as growth factors to facilitate healing.
