Lead Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the ISEH and a Lead Sports Physician for the English Institute of Sport, Dr Mike Loosemore has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Team GB at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Dr Loosemore, who was Deputy CMO for Rio 2016 has a wealth of experience having worked at three Olympic Games including London 2012 and Beijing 2008 as well as at the Manchester, Melbourne, New  Delhi and Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He is also currently the doctor to the British Snow Sports 'Park and Pipe' Team.

Dr Loosemore said: "I am delighted to be selected as CMO for the 2018 Winter Olympics for Team GB. Team GB has chances of success in more disciplines than in any previous Winter Olympic games. I am already working with the BOA team to help make the games a great experience for all the team."

Team GB are looking to build on their success in the last Winter Olympic Games held in Sochi in 2014 when they won four medals, their best performance since 1924, with Lizzy Yarnold winning Gold in the skeleton and snowboarder Jennie Jones winning Bronze, a first ever medal for Team GB on snow.

The 2018 Winter Olympics are taking place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, between 9-25 February 2018 and we wish Dr Loosemore and the team every success.
