Professional Biography

Douglas Matthews is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar who is currently undertaking research into a novel amputation prosthesis. The aim of the prosthesis is to be anchored into the residual bone of the amputated limb, while spanning the skin in order to reduce the soft tissue complications associated with wearing traditional prostheses.

While performing this research, Mr Matthews is working towards a higher degree in the form of a Medical Doctorate (MD) through University College London (UCL). Mr Matthews also performs clinical duties at University College Hospital, including theatre and clinic sessions under the supervision and tutelage of Professor Fares Haddad.
