Professional Biography
Dr Akbar de Medici helps manage many of the elite sport contacts at the ISEH and supports their access to research and education through UCL. He has been central in setting up the Sport Analytics work, supporting activities with ARUK and has worked closely with the FA, Royal Ballet, European Golf Tour and RFU, supporting their clinical links with the ISEH.
In addition, Dr de Medici also set-up the elite sport concierge service at the Princess Grace hospital. This provides secondary emergency medical cover to the majority of premiership football games in London, all Wembley games and to the NFL when visiting the UK.
Dr Akbar de Medici qualified from the Guys and St Thomas' MBBS/PhD programme in 2002. His research degrees were in sports and respiratory physiology with an interest in wearable wireless technology. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at numerous international conferences and written a best-selling medical text book for objective structured clinical examination (OSCE's).
